Volunteer & Service Expereince
Elected over three terms to represent Boston chapter of 17 country/52 chapter/~60,000 alumni member organization, JETAA.
President
November 2013 – May 2014
* Oversaw seven-person executive board and $40,000 budget to offer professional and cultural services to JET Alumni;
* Directed committee of 15 to rewrite outdated Articles of Incorporation and bylaws based on current state of organization;
* Developed 8-hour, 10 module training session on introducing Japanese culture and language to 30 outgoing JET program staff;
* Planned and facilitated monthy board meetings with at least 6 participants;
* Monitored and estbalished relations with US and Japanese government entities and local and national Japanese-interest NPOs;
* Analyzed and approved reparation for budget reviews and funding requests;
* Designed yearly-event calendar

August 2013 – January 2014
* Supervised 15-person team for planning of 2014 JETAA Regional Conference at Harvard’s Reischauer Institute of Japanese studies;
* Drafted and submitted grants resulting in contributions from 5 government agencies and NGOs totaling over $28,500 in funding;
* Organized 15 hours of content with 10 workshops and 20 speakers focused on conference topic – membership management;
* Of survey respondents, 59.3% responded they were “Very Satisfied” and 36.4% responded they were “Satisfied” (a total of 95.8%) with the conference content;
* Of survey respondents, 100% responded they were overall “Very Satisfied” with the conference;
* Acted as emcee, giving speeched as receptions, providing workshop introductions, framing each day's activities and ensuring conference logistics were transparent.
Marketing and Membership Coordinator

* Transitioned organizational marketing and communications from Yahoo! Groups to Mailchimp; NEJETAA experienced growth of 2.5% in email open rate;
* Instituted yearly data drive through annual survey (with prize incentives for completing the survey); data helped NEJETAA tailor events to members, leading to 9.1% increase in event turnout;
* Developed prospect database, with a communication calendar; targeted prospects through various Q3 yield events, membership advanced 15.3%;
* Presented workshop on Membership Management at the JETAA USA National Conference in 2012 (San Francisco) and 2013 (Minneapolis).
* Developed quarter-based curriculum for elementary-, beginner- and advanced-level adult English classes, teaching 120 classes yearly.
* Supported an adult basic education class for recent immigrants, aiding students whose long-term goals involved receiving a GED.
* Mentored seven first-generation students through academic high school program;
* Acted as writing tutor, assisting over 120 students.
